The refurbishment of the Hall, the facilities and the basement
May I thank all those who completed the cards last weekend. The cards will be there for the next two weekends for those who still wish to be involved with the project. Everyone who has completed a card will be invited to attend one of proposed meetings to hear in more detail about the project,
and hopefully wish to assist in realising the proposal of restored facilities in the Hall, lavatories and basement. The proposed dates are Wednesday 5th June 7.00pm; Sunday 9th June 12:00pm; Saturday 15th June 11:00am.
If you have a child currently in Year 2 or above who would like to receive First Holy Communion in May 2020 please collect a Mass Attendance card from Fr Peter. The reason for the cards is that preparation required for every sacrament is not simply attending the course but of encouraging a way of life that gives any formal preparation a solid grounding. The acceptance of the Church as being a bygone relic of communal family memory rather than the community of living faith is fast drawing to a close. The culture of this country is so profoundly secular that it can no longer carry the token Catholic.
Thank you to all helpers May I offer my public thanks to all those who helped with running this year’s course. This was the first course that I have run since my ordination since neither Oxford University nor the City of London had many seven-year-olds! I very much enjoyed working with the families of the children and with Kathryn James the co-ordinator. Kathryn and her daughter, Maya were there every week to lead the classes and manage the activities, and always remained good-humoured in front of the ever-impending chaos.
The Youth Club will be holding their Summer BBQ on Friday 28 June. If you're in Year 3 and above, please join us for good food, friendly chat and games in the garden.
Come along to the St James's Primary School summer fair. Lots of fun for all the family. £2 for adults and children go free. Entrance is via Wellesley Road.
St Margaret's church has a stall at the St Margaret's Fair on Moormead. We will be selling religious artefacts and advertising the church's universal nature.
Join us for Sunday lunch for the homeless.
May I thank all those who prepared food for the lunch, served and talked to our guests and helped tidy up afterwards.
Last Sunday’s Parrillada Argentine Grill was an afternoon to remember. Although the weather wasn't as good as the Easter weekend the rain managed to hold off until after lunch.
Our 8.30am Altar Servers Gabriel, Isaac and Grace Phelan all completed the Virgin London Mini Marathon last weekend recording great times on the clock!
Our April winners were: Pat Friel and Ann Edes. They have won the first prize of £100 and second prize of £50 respectively. Congratulations!
