There will be retiring collection at all Masses in aid of the Annual Collection for Sick and Retired Priests of the Diocese of Westminster.
There are currently more than 80 retired and ill priests being supported by the fund, and this number will nearly be doubled by 2025. Most retired priests are dependent in some way upon the diocese for there care and support; for example to fund their housing, healthcare or convalescence needs as well as paying for unforeseen or extra expenses.
Many priests offer their resignation from active ministry as a parish priest at 75 but often continue in ministry within our schools, hospitals and various chaplaincies. These priest have baptised us, counselled us in time of sorrow, and celebrated with us in time of joy. Having received so much from their generosity, it is our turn to assist them in their older age. This important fund relies on this annual collection to ensure that all our sick and retired priests are cared for.
Donation envelopes are available as you leave the Church. Please take one and bring it back the following week with your donation. You can also Gift Aid your donation using this envelope, or choose to make an ongoing contribution to this fund.
Please continue to pray for all our clergy active, retired or ill. Thank you
